A dictator made and then destroyed by America. [fisk].

Saddam was hung. On the eve of Eid. Abraham sacrificing his son and Iraq sacrificing its justice or something, i can't wrap my head around that decision. Then again, im not muslim what do I know. But FISK points out, even on that same day of Saddams execution years ago, saddam released prisoners from prison.

catch up here

It might only be me, but I don't really think the best way to show Iraqis the virtues of democracy by an unfair and partial trial. I don't think they will learn the virtues of democracy through denying entry into the trial any evidence of american involvement in Saddams war crimes: the Iran invasion, the chemical warfare and so on.

Instead this teaches them that there is a new style of tyranny to be had; one that parades itself around as the beacon of freedom, one that extolls the virtues of the structure that, despite its best intentions, can be bent to the will of the crooked.

This appears to be a religious war more than a war about rights. Rights are inalienable to the state. The weirdest part of this logic is, there are people in democracies that fervently argue that even the tiniest zyglot has a right to life, but not that saddam fellow. Whether the zyglot has rights or not is one thing, but there's a group of people out there that think yes, they have a right to life, but they also agree with capital punishment.

Ah, but to the best of my knowledge, no zygote has ever killed a person, much less thousands of people.
