Return of the

Im not a jedi.
I write ideas on two blogs, one for good news, one for bad news. A lot of the times a thought fails to fit neatly into either, and I can begin to understand the true nature of the force.

Bad news. Its bad news when community meetings are held by the few to decide the fate of the many. SFUO and associates went to the Annual General Sandy hill community meeting facade whatever only to find out that there is a group of people (few to no students) on this board of power; a conservative dialogue of power, a naked liberal self-interest of those represented, a heavily guarded power that choses not to understand why its own actions would be shocking since they are highly consistent with capitalism and the law.

The groups paired off into old and young. Everything went wrong. Open votes were called and communities divided themselves publicly by a show of hands. The old made cracks at the youngs expense, the young minded their manners but at the expense of their politically meaningful reciprocation of oldschool manners; entirely deserving, entirely terrifying.

We were reminded we were renters in the area, and some of the old included the word 'decades' to describe his residency in the hill. Some of the young remembered how old the university was. The battle of wits benignly continued.

The olds issues of the last meeting were summarized in minutes that were approved by another show of hands. The last meeting there were some questions about keg party sounds and that graffitti nuisance, and in seeing a topic of representational interest I had to ask if there would be as mentioned a legal wall/billboard in the area for artists, and one gent replied he was down with the kids because he knew a graf artist who became a 'real artist' and the young crowd hissed from the reprimendation of our response to urbanity. another fella said he joined the council explicitly to get rid of graffiti. but then after that public humiliation a few board gentry stepped forwards possibly to quell the student dissatisfaction and offered collaboration on making more legal walls. some even looked me square in the eye and shined with hope that I would let my graffitti friends know about this. perchance I could stop the wholething! no i never promised that...

a lot of weird shit went down there. Im getting tired. PZ
