Im bad news.

turns out im bad news.

my community building experiment died yesturday when my roommate bylak announced to me that he contacted the landlord and solicited him to visit here once a day to see if theres the crackdopeheads around, and if they are, the lord will call the police.

seamus said to me last night i had more success convincing and talking to the fiends than my ultra boxed in roommates, and i agree with him. they seem to want to continue to believe in the police force, the laws, whats right and wrong.

but last night was embarassing. i stood out front at my neighbours visiting while some blokes told the others who came by what had gone down. the reaction was interesting. at one point some had said to me that the dope fiends couldnt keep up their manners or their side of the bargain.

then a woman across the way didnt seem to be taking the news very well. she was cussin and fast talking and I knew things could easily easily turn hostile.

but my roommates let my experiment go on until now. i suppose now i shall just do the same and watch their interpretations of how to deal with urbanity play out.

i feel like i've failed though. a failed community leader who couldnt bridge some gaps. there was progress. what this location really needs is a safe injection/safe crack pipe spot. i am now fully in agreement with dealing with reality and actual circumstances, rather than projecting an ideal and not dealing at all with what really goes on.

there are free needles and crack pipes just down the street. ppl should just go smoked in the park in quebec across king edward but its too far for them to go, and maybe the quebec copts would bust them. but still its better to do drugs out in a park and not in the city. i know how it is down there i used to live right there and be friends with the people who lived in your house before you. people would smoke crack in the alley all the time and in robs garage where he keeps his fancy car.

ottawa sucks for addicts. they wind up on the streets, in the cold, no place to go... but someplace that would help them get their fix for free, and then take them down slowly, eventually helping them get clean.

there are things out there right now that are supposed to block cocaine and opiates from working in your system, but i dont know how good they work.

things will work out
get ahold of me soon

Have you ever heard the myth of the elapahnt toe? Basically a few mice were convinced that this object in the bush held magical powers, they praised it and brought food to it, then one day a little mouse decied to look up and HOLY SHIT ITS AN ELPHANT ..RUNNNN...the mice had no clue all along what they had right in front of them, so they all ran away.

The point here is yoda community leader, i hope you can come to see that you have not failed. Why is it you failed? because you could not reconclie to sides that did not want to be reconsiled. Sometimes people need to get burned to watch what they do, you had a plan you carried it out, it"failed", now like you say let your roomates have a crack (no pun intended) at it. Once they see that they creat a hostile envirnonment with people trying to rob them they will cry wolf to the police, and eventually they will stop coming...

Give it some time before you decalre your success and failure as a leader, the one thing that would qualify as failure is if you pick up and move right now, do not even give it a chance (whether you see hope or not) again all my opinion which has only limited dealings with your situation.

Be proud that living where you lived you had (from what i know) very few instances where you house (indoors) and stuff was really at risk, you made a safe place for two groups of people to live, you did a great job but now you must let others try.

My only conern is by the time your roomates figure out the relantionship they have hurt it will be to late to fix it. Best of luck, im sure there are many people out there (yes people, wether your roomates think of them or not) that are very thankful for what you have done for them.

(this would be a great topic for an article in an ottawa newspaper, your experiance in an area that people do not get to see all that often, how you wanted to deal with it, and how that turned out)
